...Winnipeg=Awesome...

~Winnipeg: I really loved Winnipeg! It's a cool city, and I lucked out with weather::not to say it was sunny the whole time::.... in fact, the first night I got there, it rained profusely. However, I enjoyed the rain thoroughly!...in the wee hours of the night, I was delighted and beaming as I ran through the streets, leaping this way and that, avoiding large puddles...(puddles? what's bigger than a puddle...almost a small man-made lake)...we were dashing to and from, and nothing could have wiped the smile off of my face as I giggled and pranced through the midnight streets of Winnipeg.
~I have family there which was so amazing as they all totally took me under their wing... which was all the more gratifying, as I'd been otherwise alone for the whole trip thus far. This big group of people are so talented: musicians, sculptors, graphic artists, and every moment with them was wonderful. They're the kind of people that just sit there creating things non-stop; if only in conversation, the ongoing source of creation was inspiring. This collection of humans also have a blog: http://www.thedailydab.blogspot.com/
~Spending time with all of these people was also interesting because I was able to learn a little about Canada's Ukranian culture. So many people in our past have just come over here... found a piece of terrain that suited them best (and they have oh so many options), and started from scratch: communities, families, and love that continue to grow year after year. it's amazing.
~I also got to see the biggest lake I've ever seen: Lake Winnipeg. Although, I'm about to see bigger ones, for now, it's the biggest. The same waters I stood in, a polar bear may have been standing in on the exact other side at the exact same moment.... or one of the moments...
~Soooo, here I am in Kenora, Ontario! I wasn't sure if I was going to stay here, in fact I planned on driving a litle further before I stopped for the night, but driving through here was so pretty, I had to stop. It's a great little place! How clever all those surveyours long ago were to build highways right through little towns... this proves to be immensely annoying in some cases, but in others, it's great because you get to see a town you may not have otherwise seen. I'm about to walk around and explore. I stopped to get some wine last night, and realized booze is so much cheaper here! ...I dunno, I don't find 8/9 dollar bottles of wine at home often if at all! And they were the same bottles I buy at home. Granted, I'm not always at the BCL, and will often resort to the closer bottle shop and pay the extra buck or two, but nonetheless, this was still cheaper.
~The leaves are already starting to lose their green. I'd been advised by so many people to come through Ontario in the fall. I hope I don't beat the fall as I drive across. Fall is juuust starting, it seems.
~Before I left Winnipeg, those incredible folks helped me paint my van. Stencilled by an incredible artist, I now have two big beautiful white bird sillhouettes on the side of my Baby, and a bison on it's ass :) (sexy) I've been collecting provincial stickers along the way, andnow, representing Winnipeg, I have this. I can't wait to upload those photos.
~Lots of love, and happy thoughts xo
~Keep on truckin'
